Documents every family needs
| Document | Details |
|---|---|
| Photographs | Mother, Father, Child and a family photo. |
| Address proof | Any two of the documents in the table above. |
| Date of birth certificate | Of the child. |
| Medical certificate | Of the child — see the notes below for the format. |
| Vaccination record | Of the child. |
Address proof — any two are required
Your address decides the distance points, the heaviest criterion in most schools' criteria. Submit any two of these, and make sure the address is the same on every one:
| Document | Whose |
|---|---|
| Aadhaar card / UID card | Mother, Father and Child |
| Passport | Father / Mother / Both |
| Voter I-Card (EPIC) | Father / Mother / Both |
| Electricity bill / MTNL telephone bill / utility bill / water bill | In either parent's name |
| Ration card | Mother / Father, with the child's name |
Proof for the points and categories you claim
Every claim needs a document behind it. Claim only what you can prove — a mismatch at verification can cost the seat.
| If you claim | You need |
|---|---|
| First child | First child affidavit. |
| Sibling | Identity card or fee receipt of the real sibling studying in the same school. |
| Alumni (Father / Mother / Both) | School leaving certificate, or the Senior Secondary / Secondary board certificate. |
| Special needs | Original certificate of disability from a recognised government hospital. |
| Single parent | Death certificate issued by the authorities, or the divorce decree. |
| Adopted child | Adoption deed issued by the government. |
| Staff child | A letter from the head of the institution, details of employment, or a copy of the appointment letter. |
| SC / ST / OBC group | A certificate from the SDM office. |
How the points work (distance, sibling, alumni, first child and more) is explained in the Delhi nursery admission guide. EWS / DG seats are applied for on the Delhi government's official portal, which lists its own documents.

Common questions
How many address proofs are required for Delhi nursery admission 2027-28?
Any two. JEC's checklist accepts the Aadhaar / UID card (mother, father and child), passport, voter I-card (EPIC), an electricity, MTNL telephone, utility or water bill in either parent's name, or a ration card with the child's name. The address must match on every proof you submit.
Which documents do I need to claim sibling points?
The identity card or fee receipt of the real sibling who is studying in the same school. Only a real brother or sister counts.
What proof is needed to claim alumni points?
For a father, mother or both who studied at the school: the school leaving certificate, or the Senior Secondary / Secondary board certificate.
Which document is needed for the single parent category?
The death certificate issued by the authorities, or the divorce decree. An ongoing divorce case is not considered under the single parent category.
What stamp paper is needed for an affidavit, such as the first child affidavit?
Affidavits must be on ₹10 non-judicial stamp paper and attested by a Notary. Some schools have their own affidavit format, so check each school's instructions.
What should the medical certificate look like?
It should be on plain paper, signed and stamped by an MBBS doctor, confirming the child's fitness. Some schools have their own format for medical certificates, so check the school's instructions first.
What if my Aadhaar card is not available?
Upload the Aadhaar acknowledgement receipt. The address on the Aadhaar must be the same for both parents and the child.
Can a school ask for documents that are not on this list?
Yes. Schools may request additional documents beyond those listed, so read each school's admission instructions when it publishes them.
