Few schools in India carry the reputation of Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. It treats character and citizenship as being as important as academic results. Whether you are preparing for the competitive nursery admissions, looking for a smooth move into an international curriculum, or simply comparing Delhi's top schools, this guide covers what you need to know.
About the School: "Excellence in Deed"
Vasant Valley School was founded in July 1990 by the Education Today Trust, led by Mr. Aroon Purie and Mrs. Rekha Purie. It began with 16 teachers and 200 students. Today it is a self-financing, inclusive day school on an eight-acre campus in South West Delhi. Its founding Headmaster was Mr. Arun Kapur. The motto is "Shreshtha Tamaya Karmane" (Excellence in Deed).
In 2026 the school won the Cfore School Excellence Award, ranking as the #2 Day Co-Ed School in India and #1 in both Delhi NCR and Delhi.
"Mr. and Mrs. Purie envisioned a learning experience in which the Arts and Sports are as important as academic learning and wanted to create a paradigm where being a good citizen was more important than being a good student."

Academics: CBSE and the International Curriculum
Vasant Valley offers both the Indian CBSE board and a Cambridge international pathway, so families can match the curriculum to their child's learning style and university plans.
The school year has four "Learning Cycles", which supports continuous assessment instead of relying on high-pressure annual exams. After each cycle, parents get a detailed report with qualitative and quantitative feedback from teachers, tutors and the student's own self-assessment. See the Learning Experience page.
CBSE (Pre-School to Grade 12)
The CBSE route goes beyond the prescribed syllabus and values creative thinking, links between subjects and life skills over rote learning. In Grades 11 and 12, students choose from 18 electives across four blocks. These include Business Studies, Applied Art, Psychology, Computer Science, Mass Media, Entrepreneurship and Hindustani Vocal Music.
Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels
The school is a registered Cambridge International School.
- Class 8 (Foundation year): eases the move from CBSE. Students sample different subjects before choosing their IGCSE subjects.
- Classes 9 and 10 (IGCSE): introduced from the 2022-23 session, with a practical, inquiry-based approach. Students can study up to 9 subjects, including First Language English, Global Perspectives, Environmental Management, Literature and Computer Science.
